Niykee continues to write songs despite having been part of the recent turmoil. Her selection was made to be part of this year's YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and the rapper was with her on stage. Now a magnet for up-and-coming producers, she regularly combs through beats sent her way and finds that many end up sparking song ideas. Within five seconds, I know whether a track is good or not. I then get an idea of an original song, and start writing it right away. I'll sit out on my backyard with my guitar and lyrics are just a matter of time and typically it's all done in under 30 minutes. Niykee keeps working on her skills as a poet and lyrics writer. She explains how her experiences of suffering in the past is a constant sources of motivation. It's hard to avoid the painful memories from my youth, especially the loss of my sister. These memories are integrated into her music. It influences my music and gives it a deeper meaning, which I find very important. I want to be able to hear my music 20 years from now and be proud of the things I've written.
